I'm writing this review on behalf of my 7 year old son, Felix, who has been reading Honest History magazine for the last year or two. He's expressed interest in history, cultures and other social sciences from a young age, so I was thrilled when I found this magazine as a way for him to indulge in his interest AND practice his reading. From the first issue he received, it became clear to me that this was an incredibly thoughtful and expertly crafted publication. The ability to create educational material that is nonetheless supremely entertaining and intellectually stimulating to children of different ages is no small feat, and I'm constantly impressed by the editorial and creative team's ability to do so with every issue, and about a variety of topics. I'm beyond happy with my decision to subscribe to this publication for my son and plan to continue as a subscriber for as long as my son (and hopefully also my daughter, soon turning 4 but a little less curious about history... perhaps a Polynesian issue to help connect to her love of Moana? lol) continues to read and re-read his existing issues. Thank you for the wonderful work... I believe every household with children, and every school library for that matter, should have access to Honest History.

I particularly enjoyed this issue! Learned so much about the Mongols. Loved the story about Khutulun -- Honest History consistently does a nice job of highlighting women's stories.

This is really more like a book than a magazine. I was impressed with the quality of it: the cover and pages were much thicker and better made than any magazine I have ever received. The illustrations are wonderful and the information contained is top-notch. I love how it includes everything about the subject (in this case, The Steppes/Mongols): the history, the geography, climate, notable people, traditional attire, customs, activities and more. I am thoroughly impressed! At first I thought this seemed expensive for a magazine subscription but since you are truly receiving a reference book on each subject - it’s well worth the cost!
Also - I love how it gives thorough and detailed information but is not too wordy. It is just enough to keep my 9 year old super interested.
Highly recommend to all parents who want their kids to learn more about history, geography, culture and more (and parents too - I think I enjoyed this as much as my son and I used to be a history major in college)!

My son absolutely loved his magazine and would love more unfortunately even though the magazines are beautifully made we cannot afford the subscription.

We will be saving this for our daughter who is an advanced 5 year old, but this was a bit too much for her to fully appreciate at the moment. She loved the images and colors though!

My husband lived in Mongolia for 2 years. When I told him about this issue that we got, he just kind of sighed and said, "but is it really Mongolia's history". After looking through it, he was very impressed with how accurate it is!
