I purchased an assortment of five books for my almost twelve-year-old granddaughter. She has finally become an avid reader after a savvy school librarian introduced her to graphic novels and then young adult books. I am pleased to discover a site where I can find more books that will spark her many interests!

I read a lot of books. It is rare to come across a type of story I've literally never seen before. The two main characters here are a 14 year old kid that has been paralyzed by a rare form of meningitis. The book is told from his point of view, so everything that happens happens either in his head or in his hospital room. The other primary character is a old Jewish jazz musician who is suffering from dementia. The book is somehow absurd and heartwarming at the same time. It's basically The Fault...

This book is brilliant! From the first word to the last, Mr. Twiss creates a world like no other. Every detail is perfectly crafted and researched and kept me turning pages, desperate to find out what would happen next. Every chapter ended on a hook. The characters were lifelike and relatable, painted with emotional depth. Everyone should be as lucky as Aaron and Sol to find such a friendship.Don't delay, read today.

Super story with inspiring messages, for adults and teens alike.
This was a very good book. Had no idea what to expect but found that each chapter made me eager to read on. So much information on meningitis. Became emotionally attached to Aaron-trying to understand how hard he had to fight to let those around him know that he was alive Great read!

Very unique and uplifting. Great book. So many important messages. Inspiring and thought provoking. Good for all ages. Teens can learn history outside of class for some that is a good thing.

This was such a great story. I'm normally not much of a sappy story kinda guy, but this one had me tearing up a little by the end. The narrator did a great job reading the audio book. I really enjoyed the authors comments at the end. I would highly reccomend this book.

Suspend Reality a Bit and Enjoy the Story! I loved this story! The coming of age story intermixed with the end of life story was so touching. The historical moments woven throughout only made it better. This really is a gem.

I had previously bought this book for my teenage grandson on the recommendation of a friend. I didn't read it then because I was under the impression that it was a book for kids. When my new book club started with this book, I gave it another look. I honestly didn't want to put it down! I love historical fiction, so I relished that aspect of the book. I read a couple of the other reviews that did not care for the fantasy characteristics of the story, but I love stories that bend reality in stran...

Absolutely delightful and so moving.
I read this book for the first time about 2-3 years ago and I just reread it and it’s still as good and enjoyable as the first. The way it pulls from different perspectives is entertaining, it’s really makes you think a lot. By the end of the book I was in tears and I would go back and cry again if I could. :)

What a wonderful book! While it is classified as a middle grade novel, all ages will love this original, heartfelt story. Aaron is a 14-year-old trapped inside his body due to meningitis. He sees and understands everything around him, but no one knows this--Until he is moved to a nursing home and gets a roommate named Solomon. Solomon is able to hear Aaron's thoughts, and Aaron is pulled into Solomon's flashbacks when he has dementia episodes. Aaron and Solomon develop an amazing friendship that...

I loved how the author wove the modern experiences with Solomon's past. The premise is compelling, and the execution of the plot brings the reader along without confusion. It was always clear when and where the action was taking place, and in this kind of book, that is no little thing. I loved the banter between Solomon and Aaron and how their relationship developed. The story is a wonderful blend of a coming of age story and historical fiction. The timeline of the dream/flashbacks covered my pa...

The gift of writing a novel about a young lad with a severe brain disease, placed in a nursing home with a roommate who is a demented jazz musician, and being able to make this combination of events and processes humorous and entertaining and touching takes a masterful writer. And gradually we are discovering the depth of talent in Johan Twiss. The quality of Johan’s prose is polished as he readily shows us in his opening pages – ‘It’s been two years since I received my life sentence of imprison...

This was one of the GREATEST books I've EVER read!
My grandma got me this and the I Am Sleepless series from the author, and I read this one first out of the five books. I've loved all of them!
This one, though, was my all-time FAVORITE!!! It had an AMAZING plot, a little of romance (I'm a big-time romance reader), action, and it made me cry. I loved it so much!!! 5/5 stars, and I have and will continue to recommend!

I have not read this one (yet). But I wanted to share that I read the first 'I Am Sleepless' book over seven years ago, and I still think about it sometimes. So, I want to support Johan Twiss as an author and say that he writes great stories. I'd even recommend this book blindly because of how good his others are. I'll be reading more of them soon.
