I have to say I did like the two “hugs” books better but the verdict is still out how my granddaughters will like it!

Amazing illustrations.

I knew the story from the original YouTube video first viewed around 2012 or so. I used it in a high school program to initiate debate, and it inspired awe.

I was thrilled to see ut in book form.

I bought the book for my new granddaughter, and when I read it to her, she loved the book.

I think I would have told the story a little differently - and in fact when reading her the book I added parts in from the story as I'd seen it first.

Just filling in a bit more detail so she could get a fuller picture of what was taking place.

But the illustrations did a lot of that as well so I don't know if it was necessary.

This book has touched my heart in a very unexpected way. I began collecting these books and then bought a collection of the puzzles, which included “How Diablo became Spirit.” I still haven’t opened the puzzle, yet as I had been gifting these books to various younger kin, I hadn’t bought the book. Then as several months passed. I was surfing around on YouTube https://youtu.be/Hxh7YoLyqno?si=h631HzNmn7920E3X and watched this video. Afterwards, I hadn’t connected the dots yet … so last month I decided to order more books and chose this book. When it was delivered I read through it and was surprised by the same story. I do truly love sentient beings and do what I can to advocate for their dignity and peace.

My daughter and I both love this story. It intrigued us so much we also watched the documentary that it is about. The illustrations are stunning.

Our family has loved reading this book over the last two weeks of receiving it in the mail. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is one we have been discussing almost daily with our boys. We have been practicing with our dogs and cat using the techniques discussed in this book about Diablo, and truly enjoyed getting to show our boys the picture of the real Diablo! Such a neat story overall and reminder to all ages to connect and respect all beings.

this book actually teaches us how to communicate with animals - a friend's 2 young daughters read it while staying with me & they totally understood the concept from the book & started dialoging with various pets, past & present - I was amazed!

I bought copies of this book for all the children in my family and one for myself. I saw a documentary on tv about Diablo and his transition to Spirit with the use of an animal communicator and a group of incredibly wonderful caretakers. Truly a story to read to your kids.

Brilliant! A must read for everyone adults and kids alike.I am a Humane Educator and my dog, Mayor Puppypants and I teach Animal Kindness. This will be a MAJOR help to us as we teach kids why and how to connect with animals! There are even kid friendly steps on how to tune into your heart and communicate with animals. WOW! I absolutely loved this book! As an Animal Reiki Master, I know how important it is to get the animal's perspective in any situation and this book is an excellent example of just that. It is very warm and heartfelt. I'm thrilled that the young kids today will see that respecting and honouring our animals , whether domestic or wild, is just another fascinating way we can communicate with them on their level. Wonderful book! I would highly recommend this to kids young and old. The fact that this is actually a true event is inspiring in itself. Bravo!

I read this little book immediately upon receipt – absolutely beautiful! I have been following Anna Breytenbach for years and am so grateful for a way to easily share her knowledge and compassion for animals with others. I look forward to reading this with children in my life and then giving them their own copy. What a wonderful way to open their eyes and compassions for other beings.

I don't know of anyone who's heard Spirit's story who hasn't been deeply touched by it; and this book tells the story beautifully. It's a great introduction and teaching aid for children about interspecies communication; and for those who are already aware of these innate, intuitive abilities it's great validation. In addition, it's a heartwarming story with a happy ending! I've followed Anna's work for several years as well as attended her training, and I don't believe anyone on the planet is doing more important work. What I love and value as much as her ability to communicate with "our non-human relatives" is her profound respect for and appreciation of all life forms - which she encourages everyone to practice. I so much believe in this book's message that I pre-ordered copies (from the publisher) for every library branch and elementary school in my county. Do the kids in your life (which could include you!) a favor and get them this book.
