Customers praised this costume accessory set for imaginative play and events. "Perfect for someone that loves playing dress up," many noted. The adjustable hat fits various sizes well. However, some experienced durability concerns with flimsy materials and epaulets needing extra pins. A few received damaged items. Overall good value for costumes.

Pilot? or Cop?

My son is way into planes. He didn't have any costume ideas for Halloween and wasn't going to trick-or-treat, but I surprised him with this costume. He was very excited. We found a black clip-on tie at Goodwill. This and his white button-up and dark pants made him look pretty good. It was very cold that night so he had his white shirt on over his jacket which made him look a little chunky, but still cute. Also, being nighttime, the sunglasses made things way too dark to safely walk around the neighborhood. I'd say maybe a third of people thought my son was a police captain - at least until they saw the wings.

We may get more use from this costume, but if not, it served us well already.

Eh

This is fine for a costume, but even for a costume the materials of the items feel flimsy and like it will not hold up long at all. This will be fine for playing, but not for long term wear or heavy use.

So great for imaginative play

Recently, my son went on the first plane ride that he will actually remember. Ever since we got back from our trip, he has been pretending to be a pilot. This set was PERFECT for him! He loves costumes, but he was especially excited for this one! The hat seems like an adult size, so it was great for him, because it can fit easily over his curls. And the glasses are perfect, because they are SUPPOSED to be oversized. It is such a simple little costume, but for someone that loves playing dress up, it is so perfect. He also loved the little patches, though he just plays with them. I have no plans of sewing them on anything. Overall, super cute and simple. I think the price is a bit high for what you get, but the hat is really well made, and that is what makes the costume great.

Decent Set for Dress-Up Fun

The Dress Up America Pilot Costume Set offers a decent experience for kids and adults alike. The accessories are okay but feel somewhat flimsy, and the sizing might not be perfect for all ages. While it's fun for imaginative play, it falls short in terms of durability and fit. A fair three-star rating for an average dress-up accessory set.

Nice accessory set for dressing up as a pilot.

All the basics you need, just add a white shirt. I tried the hat and sunglasses on, they fit ok but the hat is a little squishy in front. I will need to place something inside to firm it up. This will be fun for our costume box. We like to act out little skits to entertain our family on video calls. It always feels good to lift people's spirits, especially when you can't be there in person.

Perfect easy costume accessory

This is a decent kit for quickly converting an outfit into a costume. The shoulder epaulets were a great touch and looked surprisingly good. I pinned them to a work blazer and it was a perfect fit. The glasses, hat, and fabric wing pin were also good enough for a costume. Nice kit to keep on hand for occasions when you need a last minute low-effort costume.

Good enough for a costume

The quality of this set is nothing to write home about but it's certainly good enough for a costume. It includes the hat, glasses, shoulder patches and wings - bring your own white shirt. It's all packaged fairly well and is what you generally expect to see when looking at costume wear around Halloween and the price also reflects that because it's priced at a little bit of a premium for the quality. Overall, I would certainly consider it if you're looking for a pilot costume.

Overall nice pilot set

This is a good set. The pilot hat, aviator glasses, shoulder epaulets and insignia pin look authentic. You do have to finagle the epaulets to keep them in place. Great for any would be pilot or costume party. The glasses are pretty lightweight and not clunky.

Falls a little short...

The epaulets have a pin on one end, so the other end flops around. The glasses are costume quality- which means pretty bad. All in all, it's what one should expect for a super inexpensive accessory kit from which to make a costume... except I'd be disappointed paying anything more than half the current price. It's just that cheesy. There are other options that have the "solid" bar epaulets which are more realistic, as well as better quality hats... particularly in this price range. It's a shortcut to making a pilot costume, but overpriced for what it is. I'll be wearing this when a friend and I fly my personal plane down to see some friends of ours in a couple days- just to be obnoxious we are wearing bad pilot costumes. This is certainly one.

Nice

It was exciting seeing my kid all dressed up as a pilot, unfortunately, costumes were not allowed at the event. Hopefully, I can find another use for it but I doubt it.

The product is okay but you will have to get creative with the pieces, especially the lapels for the shoulders. It would have been better if the pins were on both sides so it could stay down. It was easily fixable by using an extra safety pin.

The hat could have been better, for one my son couldn't see well because the front was facing down and couldn't be adjusted. The size is adjustable but my son still found it uncomfortable.

All in all, the aviator glasses are a keeper, that was the only item he was willing to wear out anyway.

If the hat can be fixed, this product will be perfect and maybe meet the value expectation.

Um, ADORABLE

The hat came a little squished so hopefully I can smooth that out before our aviation party coming up - it is the perfect gift and I am so excited to see my little pilot wear it! Good quality and I love how simple it is so it can be paired with a collared shirt and pants you already own. The aviators go great with a fighter suit costume which we also happen to have to that's a win win! A great find.

Great quality for the price

This set is made of great quality. It can be used for children or adults. My toddler loves playing dress up and this set was a huge hit in our home. If you plan to use this as a Halloween costume, plan to buy more to complete the outfit, such as a white shirt and jacket.

Great pilot outfit

This is a very cute pilot Halloween costume for kids. My son went as Luigi for our family photo from Super Mario Bros, and then as a pilot for trick-or-treating. He had no issues with his outfit this year! For starters, the jacket does not come included. We bought a cheap suit jacket from the thrift store and then put together the rest of the ensemble at home. The glasses and hat fit perfectly for him. He is a skinny, young boy at the age of 12 years old. If you are trying to get someone this age a pilot outfit— this is probably going to be your best option.

Adorable but needs extra work…

I wore this set to work on Halloween. It was fantastic for this purpose. I work in the medical field, so I was able to wear work appropriate clothing and wear this set as an accessory. I paired it with navy blue scrubs and got tons of compliments. I wasn’t able to wear the shades. I’ll say they are costume quality. Not something you want to wear everyday. They are a solid wear for a day though. This costume was comfortable, didn’t get in the way of my work, and super cute! I even got compliments on the buttons!

The big issue was the pins that held the costume to your clothes. They really aren’t enough to keep everything in place. If you move your arms the shoulder pieces twist and lay diagonally and the edges of the wings curled up and wouldn’t lay flat. My husband saved the day by cleaning everything up with some super heavy duty (think ape tape) double sided tape we used in addition to the pins that come on the outfit pieces. After that it looked clean and neat and didn’t move. Super adorable! The hat could have used a little piece of card stock inside to hold the crown up neatly too but I ran out of time. It was still passable without it. The costume pieces are sturdy enough they didn’t fall apart when removing the tape. I will be wearing this again next year if I am working on Halloween!

It's an okay costume for Halloween

What's in the pack?

A couple of epaulets (only pinned on one end), pair of aviator style sunglasses, a set of wings and a pilot hat.

What will I need to make this work?

A white business shirt (if you wear the epaulets on the shirt) or a suit jacket and matching slacks. A tie and a lanyard with ID made this costume more authentic.

Quality?

The epaulets are only safety pinned at one end so they blow around in the wind and could do with a safety pin at the other end. The material was attached to the pin for a day before tearing off the pin but it lasted most of the day and the required selfies and group photos at the party.

The hat has a baseball cap style adjustment at the back to suit most heads.

No issues fitting my son!

Not the highest quality item, but my 12 year old son wore it for Halloween and a few other events where was running around and had no issues! Better than we expected for sure and it came with safety pins on the epilates wings!

Great school costumer for little kids

I got this for a seven year old for his Halloween costume parade at school. They aren't allowed to wear scary costumes, he decided to be an airline pilot. This is not a full costume, just the hat, epilets, an airliner pin, and aviator style glasses. Add your own white collared shirt and slacks and your kid will look like the real deal. I love that the hat is adjustable kind of like a baseball cap. Makes for a perfect fit!

Adjustable hat!

We got this to put on a suit for Halloween for my son to be a pilot. The epaulettes and wings for the breast have pins in them so you don’t have to sew or iron them on, a huge plus. Although for the epaulettes, there were pins only on one end, so I had to use a safety pin on the other end to keep them from flapping over. The hat is GREAT. It’s got one of those baseball cap sizing straps so you can fit it perfectly to their head. The quality is nice too. I highly recommend this.
